Reading the map

Spain's two largest parties sit in opposite quadrants: the People's Party in the authoritarian right (+4.5, +4.0) and the PSOE in the libertarian left (−2.1, −4.1). Vox is the furthest right of all 50 parties covered on this site on both axes (+8.0 economic, +9.0 social), and Se Acabó La Fiesta, which first stood in the 2024 European election, is close behind it (+6.9, +6.9).

To the left of the PSOE, Sumar is the most socially liberal of the 50 parties (−7.6), with Podemos (−7.1) and United Left (−5.5) nearby; Podemos and United Left are also the furthest left on economics in Spain (−6.8 each).

Spain also has the most regional parties in this dataset, and they do not fall on one side. EH Bildu, ERC and the BNG are in the libertarian left, while the PNV, Junts, Coalición Canaria and UPN are on the centre-right. The territorial question cuts across the compass rather than following it.

On public services versus tax cuts, Vox (9.6, strongly for lower taxes) and United Left (1.0) are furthest apart.
